Wolf, Peter J.
Peter J. Wolf was born in Chenoa, Illinois, on September 26, 1881, to parents Jacob Wolf and Annie Fredericks. His family relocated to San Francisco in 1887 before settling in Fresno County, California, where his father engaged in farming, viticulture, and school district leadership. Raised in California and educated in Fresno public schools, Peter assisted his father from a young age alongside his five surviving siblings, George, Dan, Annie, Josephine, and Jacob.
As an adult, Peter became a prominent horticulturist and viticulturist who developed and improved numerous properties across Empire Colony and Fresno County. Married on October 21, 1903, to Etta Price, he raised eight children: Goldie, Leona, Viola, Vernon, Lorene, Bernice, Raymond, and Opal. A Democrat in politics, he served as a trustee of the Empire school district and actively supported regional agricultural organizations, including the California Peach Growers, Inc., and the California Associated Raisin Company.
