Williamson, Simeon Edgar
Simeon Edgar Williamson was born in Stockton, California, on January 15, 1877, to parents George F. Williamson and Ann Ballard. In November 1885, his family relocated via team and wagon to Fresno County, where they settled near Caruthers and engaged in wheat farming. He attended the Princeton school and learned the agricultural trade from his father before establishing an earth-work contracting business that helped construct ditches, build roads, and reclaim land near Murphy slough and the Laguna de Tache Grant.
Simeon Edgar Williamson married Alice Hatch on June 15, 1902, and together they raised six children named Sidney, Robert, Mary E., Edna J., Francis L., and George. The family resided on the old Dennis Hatch ranch, which Simeon operated alongside an extensive 2,000-acre cattle ranch. Beyond his agricultural pursuits, he contributed to community development by serving as a director for the Fresno District Fair and acting as a trustee for the Riverdale High School Board.
