Wiesbrod, G.
G. Wiesbrod was born in Straub, Samara, Russia, on November 1, 1885, to Chris Wiesbrod and Marie Thompson. After his mother passed away in 1890, he accompanied his father to California and received his education in the Fresno public schools. He initially mastered the baker trade at the Model Bakery in Fresno before establishing and operating his own business, the San Benito Bakery.
After closing his bakery, G. Wiesbrod purchased sixty acres in Madera County to engage in dairying before trading for thirty acres in the Barstow Colony of Fresno County in February 1918. On his new ranch, he achieved success raising alfalfa and Thompson seedless grapes while joining the California Alfalfa Growers Association. In 1907, he married Margaret Nilmeier in Fresno, with whom he had a daughter named Helen Margaret, and the family actively supported the local Lutheran Church and Republican party.
