Weber, Henry, Jr.
Henry Weber, Jr. was born in Samara, Russia, on December 5, 1885, to parents Henry Weber and Anna Margareta Weber. After receiving his early education in his native town, he immigrated with his family to Fresno County, California, arriving on February 22, 1900. He initially worked on local grain ranches before learning the vineyard and orchard business in the region.
In November 1908, Henry purchased twenty acres in the Dunkard school district west of Fresno, transforming the tract into a productive Thompson seedless grape vineyard. He expanded his holdings with an additional twenty acres near California Avenue, planting half to grapes and half to alfalfa. Married to Samara native Anna Margareta Rudel on May 10, 1906, in Fowler, he raised three surviving children, Frederick William, Laura, and Lydia, while remaining a dedicated stockholder in the California Associated Raisin Company and a leader in his community.
