Trucchi, Annibale
Annibale Trucchi was born in Torino, Italy, on September 5, 1849, and attended a military college before entering the Italian Army at age sixteen. After serving eleven years as a lieutenant and seeing action in Palermo during the 1866 revolution, he resigned in 1874 to operate a dry goods business in Forli for eight years. He immigrated to the United States in 1889, spending time in Chicago, San Francisco, and Stockton—where he ran a general store for eight years—before permanently locating in Fresno, California, in 1900.
In Fresno, Annibale established a prosperous general merchandise store at 1040 H Street while expanding his local real estate investments. He developed a forty-acre fruit and vine ranch in the Perrin Colony before selling it in 1914, eventually acquiring three houses and eighteen city lots. Married in Chicago to Armenia Santori, with whom he raised three children named Louisa, Elizabeth, and Joaquin, he remained a public-spirited resident and a twenty-seven-year member of the Foresters of America.
