Puccinelli, Louis
Louis Puccinelli was born on October 14, 1864, at Mantuolo, Lucca, Italy, and served three years in the Fourteenth Artillery Regiment of the Italian Army. Immigrating to San Francisco in 1888, he worked in a hotel before becoming owner of the El Capitan Hotel until 1897. Moving to Firebaugh, he built the New El Capitan Hotel, acquired town real estate, and developed a twenty-acre vineyard at Dos Palos.
In San Francisco, Puccinelli married Henrietta Tofanelli, who also came from Lucca in 1893, and together they raised five children named Henry, Angelo, Emma, Louise, and Bruna. Outside of business, he served as road overseer for thirteen years, acted as a school trustee, and maintained active roles in local fraternal organizations and Republican politics.
