Petersen, Mrs. Christine A.
Mrs. Christine A. Petersen was born in Sondre, Jylland, Denmark, on November 22, 1868, to parents Hans Iversen Vind and Anna Maria Schmidt. She immigrated alone to the United States in September 1885, traveling through New York before settling in Salinas and later Central Colony, Fresno County. On May 31, 1889, she married John Petersen, a native of Denmark born February 26, 1859, who served as president and manager of the Parlier Winery while building a productive vineyard ranch near Parlier.
Following the death of her husband on September 10, 1911, Christine continued to manage their family property and maintain a welcoming home near Parlier. She raised several surviving children, including Hannah, Henry George, William Bryan, and Walter Christian, two of whom honorably served during World War I. An active community member, she remained a devoted member of the Lutheran Church and supported local civic efforts through the Red Cross.
