Nord, Fritz E.
Fritz E. Nord was born in Sweden on December 13, 1887, to parents John P. Nord and Susanna Timan. When he was six months old, his family immigrated to California and settled in Fresno County, living at West Park before moving to Kingsburg. He grew up on his father ranch, attended the Harrison district school, and began renting land to farm independently when he turned twenty-one.
In Fresno County, Fritz purchased thirty acres of land on Central Avenue in the Clay school district, four miles northeast of Kingsburg, which he developed into a highly productive ranch. He married Miss Hannah Anderson of Kingsburg on January 21, 1914, and together they raised three children: Ethel E., Helen V., and Chester A. E. A public-spirited citizen, he served as clerk of the Clay school board and actively supported local agriculture as a member and solicitor for both the California Raisin Growers Association and the California Peach Growers Association.
