Nilmeier, Conrad H.
Conrad H. Nilmeier was born on October 25, 1874, in Stepnoski, Samara, Russia, to parents Conrad and Kathrina Kerber Nilmeier. After completing his education in Russia and working on his family farm, he immigrated to Fresno County in 1898, where he worked for the Southern Pacific Railway, the California Products Company, and as a teamster. In 1904, he purchased forty acres of raw land on Barstow Avenue in the Biola district, transforming it into a highly cultivated ranch with Thompson seedless and Muscat grape vineyards, modern wells, and a new family residence.
Munger actively contributed to local agricultural success as a member of the California Associated Raisin Company and a respected figure in the Biola district. Married in Russia on January 15, 1895, to Katherine Horg, he raised eight children: Annie, Lillia, David, Emma, Solomon, Lizzie, Elias, and Samuel. The Nilmeier family maintained an active role in their community, regularly attending the Zion Congregational Church in Fresno.
