Nelson, Andrew
Andrew Nelson was born in Olgod, Jylland, Denmark, on December 30, 1855, where he was educated in farming before serving in the Danish Army. After immigrating to America in 1882, he moved to Fresno, California, where he initially worked as a warehouse foreman for Einsteins. Utilizing his agricultural training, he soon established himself in viticulture, improving local properties and developing twenty acres of his own land on Madison Avenue near Fresno.
In 1904, Andrew purchased a 160-acre tract of raw land southeast of Dinuba, which he developed into productive vineyards and orchards. On December 17, 1892, he married Mette Petersen, also a native of Olgod, with whom he had one daughter, Meta. Following Andrew passing, Mette successfully managed their agricultural operations, installed a modern pumping plant, and eventually retired to a residence at 629 North Van Ness Avenue in Fresno.
