McNab, Allan
Allan McNab was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, to parents Andrew McNab and Emily P. Taber. After attending the University of the Pacific in San Jose and graduating from Heald Business College in San Francisco in 1879, he operated a grocery business in New Hampshire with his brother Elgin until 1884. He subsequently moved to San Francisco, where he ran a fruit business, managed newspaper delivery routes, and later operated the White Star Laundry in Santa Rosa.
In July 1903, Allan relocated to Fresno County and purchased a forty-acre ranch in the Eggers Colony. He successfully improved the property by cultivating muscat grapes, figs, and olives under the Gould ditch system. Married to Ella M. Wilkins in Manchester in 1880, he raised three children, Hattie Bell, George A., and Gladys M., while serving as secretary of the Farmers Union and actively supporting the California Associated Raisin Company.
