Lockie, William S.
William S. Lockie was born in Solano County, California, on May 7, 1874, to pioneer rancher W. A. Lockie. During his youth, his family lived in Oregon and Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, before settling in the De Wolf school district of Fresno County, California. There, he assisted his father in planting a 180-acre property while simultaneously developing his own sixty-acre ranch with fruit trees, grapevines, a residence, and barns.
In Fowler, California, William married Effie Bradley, with whom he had two children, Margaret and Keith, before her passing in 1912. He married Mrs. Alice Donahue Whittican in 1914, who brought a daughter named Bonnie into the family. Beyond managing his ranch, William helped organize the First National Bank of Fowler, supported local World War efforts, and remained an active Republican and Christian Church member in Fowler.
