Lockie, Margaret B.
Daughter of pioneer William A. Lockie, Margaret B. Lockie was a leading agriculturalist in the Fowler district of Fresno County. Following her father’s passing, she served as administratrix of his estate and, alongside her sister Mrs. Lillie I. Pugh, managed the 180-acre family vineyard and orchard ranch until the estate was settled.
In addition to her agricultural enterprises, Miss Lockie was a stockholder in the First National Bank of Fowler and active in civic affairs, supporting non-partisan local improvements while aligning nationally with the Democratic Party. After settling the estate, she and her sister—the widow of businessman and Mason John W. Pugh (1870–1917)—relocated into Fowler in 1919, purchasing a modern bungalow home and taking an active role in the community’s social and business development.
