Lindquist, Mrs. Anna
Born in Sweden in 1848, Anna Lindquist (née Erickson) was the daughter of Erick and Anna (Larson) Erickson. Immigrating to the United States in 1869, she settled in Ishpeming, Michigan, where in 1873 she married Peter Lindquist, a native of West Mollond, Munk Torp, Sweden. The couple subsequently engaged in agriculture across Henry County and New Sweden, Iowa, as well as Phelps County, Nebraska, before moving to Fresno County, California, in 1887.
The Lindquists acquired ranch property three miles northeast of Kingsburg on Harrison Avenue, expanding their real estate holdings to 120 acres in Fresno County alongside a 640-acre colonization tract in Tulare County. Following her husband’s death in November 1904, Mrs. Lindquist served as administratrix of the estate, managing the liquidation of the Tulare property and overseeing the division of the 120-acre home ranch—retaining sixty acres for herself while distributing ten acres to each of her six surviving children (Charles G., Alfred T., Tilda O., Victor, Albert, and George A., a World War I army veteran). An active member of the Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church and a staunch Prohibition advocate, Mrs. Lindquist was widely respected for her executive capability and community leadership.
