Lindgren, A. T.
Born in Lindsborg, McPherson County, Kansas, in 1872, A. T. Lindgren was the son of S. P. and Martha (Olson) Lindgren, pioneer founders of Lindsborg who later relocated to California. Educated in Kansas public schools and Bethany College, Lindgren moved to California in 1889 at age seventeen, settling on a ranch in Kingsburg. He quickly became an active organizer of key regional enterprises, managing the Linnea Cooperative Packing Association and serving as the first secretary of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Kingsburg upon their formations in 1900.
In 1904, Lindgren co-founded the First National Bank of Kingsburg, serving as its original and sole cashier as well as a member of its board of directors. Beyond his financial leadership, he spearheaded the civic campaign for Kingsburg’s municipal incorporation, served as chairman of the incorporation board, and helped organize the Swedish Mission Church. Married in 1906 to Selma Snorin, with whom he had four children (Ira Whitney, Kenneth Theodore, Rosalie Annette, and Ruth Eloise), Lindgren maintained property holdings in Kingsburg alongside a ten-acre fruit and vine ranch.
