Le Fevre, A. R.
A. R. Le Fevre was born near Auburn, New York, on September 23, 1849, to Peter J. Le Fevre and Sarah E. Hutchinson. He grew up on a farm near Fairfax Court House, Virginia, where he witnessed Civil War conflicts before relocating to Fresno County, California, on February 1, 1888. He initially raised wheat east of Fowler before establishing a sixty-acre home ranch on the North McCall Road north of Selma in 1900.
In Fresno County, Mr. Le Fevre focused his operations on raising raisin grapes and expanded his land holdings by purchasing an additional twenty-acre ranch. Married in Fresno to Miss Agnes Boyd, he raised an adopted son, John S. Le Fevre, who assisted him with his agricultural endeavors. A dedicated supporter of local raisin growers and the temperance movement, he earned high respect as an enterprising and principled citizen of Selma.
