Jensen, C. P.
Born in Jylland, Denmark, in 1871, P. C. Jensen emigrated to the United States in 1889. He initially worked in the iron and copper mines of Michigan and farmed in South Dakota and Wisconsin before settling in Kingsburg, Fresno County, in 1900. Over his many years in California, Jensen built a successful career in agricultural real estate, specializing in purchasing, improving, and selling raw land to settlers seeking permanent home ranches.
In 1900, Jensen married Mary Sundegaard, a native of Denmark whom he had known since childhood, and together they raised three children: Roscoe J., Harriet, and an adopted daughter, Christina. A devout member and trustee of the Danish Lutheran Church on the Del Rey and Sanger Road, which he helped build in 1905, Jensen earned widespread respect throughout Fresno County for his integrity, Christian citizenship, and dedication to community growth.
