Hill, Harry
Born in Kansas in 1882, Harry Hill served over three years as a hospital nurse in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War before moving to California. Following his marriage to Ethel A. Andrews in 1905, he settled near Riverdale in Fresno County and established the Sunny Hill Stock Ranch. He eventually expanded his holdings to 180 acres across the Riverdale and Burrel districts, where he became a prominent scientific dairyman specializing in registered Holstein-Friesian cattle and Duroc-Jersey swine.
Beyond his agricultural success, Hill was deeply committed to local civic leadership and military readiness, serving as a long-time school trustee and drilling volunteer soldiers during World War I. He and his wife were active members and choir singers at the United Brethren Church, where he also served as a church trustee. Together, the couple raised seven sons and established a highly respected family presence within the Riverdale community.
