Hansen, Chris Thompson

Born in Denmark in 1890, Chris Thompson Hansen grew up on his father’s dairy farm before immigrating to the United States in 1909. After working for two years in Newman, California, he was drawn to the greater agricultural opportunities of Tranquillity in 1911 and purchased a thirty-acre tract of raw land. Through determined effort, he leveled and plowed the ground, sowed it to alfalfa, and established a highly successful dairy and poultry operation.

Known locally by his two Christian names as Chris Thompson, he achieved notable success by applying modern scientific methods to his ranching. His enterprising spirit, generous nature, and exceptional management of his property earned him a reputation as one of the most capable and highly esteemed ranchers in the Tranquillity district.
