Halemeier, Henry Rudolph
Henry R. Halemeier was born in 1891 in Fresno County’s Eggers Colony, where his father, a pioneer winemaker, had established a family vineyard. He grew up learning the viticulture trade from a young age and later graduated with honors from Heald’s Business College in 1911. Upon completing his studies, he returned to the family estate to assist his father with their extensive grape and raisin operations.
In 1916, Halemeier leased his father’s eighty-acre ranch and partnered with his brother to manage a separate twenty-acre tract on Locan Avenue. That same year, he married Oakland native Bertha Steinbeck, with whom he had one daughter, Marion Elizabeth. He became a successful member of the California Associated Raisin Company while remaining highly active in the German Lutheran Church and local civic affairs.
