Goode, Herbert
Herbert Goode, born in England in 1870, immigrated to Fowler, California, in 1890 to join his brothers in establishing a highly successful ranching partnership. Operating under the name Goode Brothers, they implemented progressive cultivation methods to rise to the front rank of Fresno County’s premier raisin-growers. Their notable agricultural achievements and dedicated efforts to elevate local social conditions made them deeply respected leaders throughout the region.
Tragically, the brothers’ lives were suddenly cut short by a devastating accident that profoundly shocked and saddened the entire Fowler community. Herbert left behind his wife, Maude Preston, and their four children, who continued to reside on the family’s prominent ranching estate. Recognized for their generous support of public enterprise and local charities, the Goode brothers left an enduring legacy as exemplary citizens and devoted family men.
