Glougie, Albert V.
A. V. Glougie, born in Minnesota in 1866 and raised in Iowa, gained early agricultural experience working on his family’s midwestern farm before marrying local native Lizzie Ammond. After successfully breaking and improving new prairie land in Iowa, he relocated to Fresno County, California, in January 1902. Settling near Parlier and later Sanger, he specialized in developing raw acreage by planting thriving vineyards, alfalfa fields, and citrus orchards.
Following a brief business venture in the Imperial Valley raising livestock, Glougie returned to Fresno County to continue his successful real estate and farming operations. He eventually developed a prime forty-acre ranch on California Avenue, transforming it into a highly productive alfalfa and fig estate. Respected for his civic engagement and independent local voting, he raised four children alongside his wife and remains an esteemed figure in the regional agricultural community.
