Gilardoni, Philip
Philip Gilardoni, born in Bellagio in the Province of Como, Italy, in 1885, trained as a plasterer and mason in his youth before completing three years of specialized military training in the Italian “Alpine” service. In December 1908, he immigrated to the United States, landing in Texas and traveling directly to California, where he spent three years working on a dairy farm in Napa. After a brief period performing janitor work in San Francisco, he married Santina Gondola—a native of his home region in Italy—on June 26, 1911.
Following their marriage, the couple relocated to Fresno County, initially renting land near Lanare before moving to their current location in September 1918. Gilardoni now operates a prosperous 160-acre dairy farm on the Burrel estate in a successful partnership with Gildo Acquistapace. Managing a high-grade herd of seventy-five Holstein cows on a modern, well-equipped ranch, he and his family, including their daughter Italia, are highly regarded for their hard work, dedication to the Catholic Church, and active involvement in local Red Cross and community service.
