Ferguson, Andy D.
Andy D. Ferguson was a native Californian born at Kings River in 1868 to early pioneer parents. After completing his education at Lytton Springs College, he engaged in insurance before managing successful cattle, horse, and grain operations. His diverse professional endeavors eventually expanded into construction management, real estate development, and regional oil interests.
Ferguson found his true calling in wildlife conservation, serving as the local county game warden and managing a multi-county district office. His exceptional leadership led to his appointment as the state-wide field agent for the California Fish and Game Commission. Alongside his wife, Arza, he raised five children—including two decorated World War I veterans—while frequently promoting California’s natural beauty as an outdoor writer.
