Everts, Olen Lee
Olen Lee Everts was born in Illinois in 1870 and relocated to Fresno in 1887 to work alongside his father in the real estate business. Driven to pursue a career in the legal profession, he returned east to study jurisprudence at the University of Michigan, graduating with his law degree in 1891. Upon returning to California, he partnered with David S. Ewing in 1893 to co-found Everts & Ewing, establishing what would become one of the premier, long-standing law firms in the San Joaquin Valley.
Everts significantly elevated his professional standing by serving an energetic term as the District Attorney of Fresno County from 1899 to 1903. After returning to private practice, his firm specialized in corporate counsel, representing numerous regional banking institutions and managing highly complex oil industry litigation. He secured a lasting legal legacy by winning a record-shattering $100,000 personal injury verdict against the Southern Pacific Railway Company, cementing his reputation as a formidable trial attorney.
