Davis, I. E.
I. E. Davis was born in Ohio in 1856, where he grew up on a farm, attended public schools, and spent decades carrying on his family’s multi-generational legacy of agricultural cultivation. He engaged in general farming on various properties, including his grandfather’s estate, until 1910 when he relocated to Colorado and briefly operated a grocery business. In 1911, he moved to California and eventually established a permanent twenty-acre ranch on Blackstone Avenue just outside of Fresno.
As an enterprising agriculturalist, Davis contributed significantly to the region’s expanding horticultural sector by dedicating his acreage to Muscat, Thompson seedless, and Sultana grapes alongside specialized Calimyrna and Capri fig orchards. He further supported local fruit distribution networks by joining the California Associated Raisin Company and the California Peach Growers, Inc. Beyond his professional contributions, he was a member of the Knights of Pythias for three decades, aligned with the Republican Party, and remained a highly esteemed member of his community.
