Brickley, Henry A.
Henry Brickley, born on June 28, 1876, at Liberty, Fresno County, achieved recognition as a leading attorney of civil and criminal law in the San Joaquin Valley. As the son of Irish immigrants John Brickley, a Civil War veteran and pioneer farmer, and Sarah McCormick, he grew up in the region and graduated from Fresno High School in 1897. He went on to attend the University of California, where he pursued a course in Social Science and majored in law. While gaining early professional experience as a reporter on the staff of the Fresno Republican, he continued his legal studies and was successfully admitted to the bar of California on September 12, 1900.
Following his admission, Brickley built a large and uniformly successful clientele through his close attention to the cases entrusted to him. A dedicated Democrat, he served on the Democratic County Central Committee and attended the 1904 National Democratic Convention in St. Louis as a delegate during the presidential nomination of Alton B. Parker. His community involvement was further marked by his role as a charter member and past president of Fresno Parlor No. 25, N. S. G. W., as well as his active membership in the Fresno County Bar Association. During the war, he demonstrated his civic patriotism by tendering his professional services to the local committee and performing his duties to help win the conflict.
