Bosworth, Albert
Albert Bosworth, born in Limestone, Cattaraugus County, New York, to Lon and Sarah (Adams) Bosworth, became one of the best-posted oil superintendents in the Coalinga field. He was identified with the oil industry from early life, entering the employ of the Standard Oil Company in Bradford, Pennsylvania, at the youthful age of sixteen. Following a period spent lumbering in Wayne and Warren Counties, Pennsylvania, he returned to the oil fields as a driller for Mr. Shear of Sheffield. His loyal and efficient service led to a promotion to superintendent, a position he held for nearly fifteen years while managing three properties with forty-three producing wells.
In 1906, Bosworth resigned from his position to visit California, making a permanent move to Coalinga in 1908 to work as a superintendent for George D. Roberts of the Stockholders 28 Company. He filled this responsible role for seven years before transitioning with Mr. Roberts to the United Development Company, later known as the Oil Exploration Company, where he served as general superintendent. In his personal life, he was united in marriage in San Francisco to Emma Ingram, a native of Mason City, Iowa, who was reared and educated in California. Together, the couple became popular figures in Fresno County, demonstrating strong community involvement through their work with the War Fund Association and as life members of the Red Cross.
